Silesia, shortly before the occupation of the Sudetenland. A program known as Lebensborn, in which a "master race" was to be produced.
Young Gretka Weiserova is sent to the Isold sanatorium. Together with other "chosen" girls she goes through a Nazi education so that the Reich can obtain racially pure offspring. The sanatorium once belonged to the family of a Jewish boy named Lee who hides there without hope of survival. Their (secret) love creates a new life, which in the context of a program to breed "racially pure" children, becomes the real "spring of future life".
Biografia Autore
Milan Cieslar (born 1960, Cesky Tesin, CZ) graduated from Cimelice Film School and studied directing at FAMU (Prague’s Film Academy). Worked at Barandov Film Studios as assistant director (Wolf (1986), What kind of Soldier is That (1987)). His TV Production Hands (1987) won critical acclaim. Dynamite (1989), Perhaps Life is Nice Somewhere (1991), The taste of Death (1995).
