Synopsis
The German automotive company Audi has been a major presence on the European auto racing circuit for decades, and at the dawn of the 21st Century, the Audi team became the dominant force in Europe's most prestigious and demanding racing event, the 24 hours of Le Mans. After winning at Le Mans for seven years in a row, the Audi team was looking forward to an eighth victory in 2008 when the French Peugeot team, long Audi's fiercest rivals, began winning a number of leading preliminary races with a new diesel-powered machine. With their pride and reputation at stake, the Audi group and the three driving teams they had entered in Le Mans -- one led by Tom Kristensen, who had taken the checkered flag at Le Mans eight times before -- prepared to combine driving talent, engineering, strategic skill and simple endurance in a bid to hold on to their title as the most winning Le Mans team in history. Filmmakers Keith Cossrow and Bennett Viseltear were given full access to the Audi team as they prepared for the famous road race, and Truth In 24 is a documentary following their 2008 Le Mans campaign from the design of that year's car to the final crossing of the finish line. Truth In 24 received its world premiere at the 2008 AFI Film Festival.
