Based on a true-life story of a Taiwanese piano prodigy HUANG Yu-Siang (Siang played by himself), this inspiring film was the Taiwanese entry to the Academy Awards in 2013.
Despite being blind since birth, Siang's life in rural Taiwan, surrounded by love and support of his family, have been a happy one without much difficulty or barriers. But now, Siang must step out into the real world to attend university in a metropolis where he has to compete on the same playing field as the sighted students and to find his own way without the protection of his mother. In the city, he crosses paths with Jie (Sandrine Pinna), a beautiful but frustrated ice tea stand employee whose dreams of being a dancer is put on hold as she helplessly struggles with the harsh realities of her life. However, as they two become friends and she witnesses Siang’s courage, optimism and inner peace, she is inspired to find determination to pursue her dream again.
